While many of us are stuck at home, we’re trying to find rewarding ways to fill our time. Though The Hattiesburg Zoo is closed until at least March 31, it still has tons of info and videos on its Facebook page and website that will help you find a deeper appreciation of animals—and a whole lot of fun too! And for when the zoo reopens, here’s what you can look forward to.
The Zoo
You can go wild when you visit the Hattiesburg Zoo. Literally. Wildlife is all around you. From the Australian Outback to the African coasts, experience animals from all over the globe.
In addition to sightseeing the wonderful wildlife of our world, you’ll want to venture through the zoo’s attractions. You can hang from the high ropes, travel the grounds via train, or visit the bug hub. Or all of the above! Other attractions include a splash pad, carousel, mining excursion, African animal petting zoo, and a trip down under. Not actually to Australia—but a walk-around exhibit with emus, wallabies, and a KuneKune pig.
For the little ones, the bug hub and splash pad are hot spots. And the splash pad definitely cools you off during the heat! The kiddies can play, slide, and have a good time. Both would be a refreshing break after an afternoon on your feet.
When you visit the Hattiesburg Zoo, there’s something fun for everyone. You can stretch out your legs and hit the high rope course, which has sky trails for rope climbers of virtually all ages. After that, you can head to the mining expedition—a mineral marvel conveniently in the shade of the high ropes course.
To top off your trip to the zoo, get up-close and personal with the gentle creatures of Africa. Pet native African animals like Nigerian dwarf goats, Tunisian sheep, and miniature zebu. You’ll find a deeper appreciation for the fellow creatures that call Earth home–and maybe even make a few friends too!
The Hattiesburg Zoo is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Summary
When you visit the Hattiesburg Zoo, a whole new experience is in store for you. It’s fun for the whole family—and deserves more than one trip back!
We enjoy visiting new places, but we also love to find somewhere to stay awhile. Why not stay with us at The Belmont Apartment Homes? The only “wildlife” here is our cuddly pets, and we turned attractions into great amenities! Looking for other things to do with your free time? Follow our blog
