More on the Development of El Rayo in Hattiesburg
Our city has been abuzz with the announcement of El Rayo in Hattiesburg. Created by Robert St. John, who owned the popular but sadly-closed Purple Parrot Café, this new venue has everyone feeling hungry. It’s also three years in the making—and all that extra planning has apparently resulted in a seriously mouthwatering menu.
More developments will be on the horizon as well, in the coming weeks after the restaurant’s projected October opening. They also plan to eventually expand the space—4,000-square-feet of space to be exact –allowing plenty of room for you dine. And of course, there will be a bar in the future—which means margaritas! Yes, please!
Already planning your trip? Pencil it in for October! The restaurant is located at 3810 Hardy Street, which you may recognize as the site of the former Purple Parrot Café.

Additionally, please listen to all state laws, posted signage, and employee directions. You can also request takeout instead if you’d like to eat at home. Thank you for keeping Hattiesburg safe and healthy!
