Save the date! For the third time, the Star-Spangled Celebration on the River in Hattiesburg and Petal will light up both sides of the Leaf River with live music, food, fun and fireworks Friday, July 2nd, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
What to Expect
Star-Spangled Celebration on the River is the brainchild of both the Downtown Hattiesburg Association and the Petal Area Chamber of Commerce. The groups wanted to provide a free, family-friendly Fourth of July event.
The first fireworks festivities took place in 2018 followed by another successful year in 2019 with about 11,000 guests attending. After last year’s cancellation, this year promises to be bigger and brighter than ever!
While some features and things may be city-specific, others you can bank on. For example, the Hattiesburg side of the river will offer beer sales, while the Petal side will not. If you want to see a hot air balloon up close, float on over to the Petal side.
For both sides, you can count on live music, food vendors, t-shirts, souvenirs and kid zones. Finally, the cities will enjoy the fantastic fireworks display together at 9 p.m. Remember to bring lawn chairs and blankets so you can sit back and enjoy the show.
