This West Hattiesburg steakhouse officially opened in March of this year. When you visit Benson’s Steakhouse & Taproom, there are a handful of things you can expect. For starters, hand-cut, made-to-order steaks are one of their many specialties.
Another unique draw is the large beer wall featuring 24 taps of local craft brew. Then there’s the welcoming, down-home vibe. Sometimes, there’s even live music—ranging from jazz to bluegrass.
Did we mention all their dishes, including homemade desserts, are prepared in-house daily?
The menu
The full menu includes steaks, fresh seafood, pastas, burgers and salads. Plus, there are hearty appetizers like Steakhouse Nachos, Steak Bites and Fried Crab Claws.
Besides rotating specials like blackened salmon over mashed red potatoes topped with crawfish cream sauce served with a summer veggie medley, guests can count on certain main staples. There’s ribeye, filet mignon, flash-fried lobster tail and the Benson Burger.
Side choices include options such as loaded mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus or house fries. Don’t forget the homemade desserts like white chocolate bread pudding, bourbon pecan pie and a variety of fresh cheesecakes.
Location and hours
Formerly Twisted Skillet, Benson’s Steakhouse & Taproom is located at 6414 Highway 98 in West Hattiesburg. You can find them across the street from Courtesy Ford Dealership. From The Belmont, take King Road to U.S. Highway 98 and arrive in less than five minutes!
Their hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Reservations aren’t required, but they are welcomed. You can make same-day reservations until 4:30 p.m. by texting 601-402-7138. Of course, that’s the same number to text for reservations made farther in advanced as well.
